Petal Pizzazz

My posts will be a bit short and sweet for awhile until I get myself into more of a routine, but I'll still keep showing my creations.... even if my word content isn't much.

Anyway, here's a card I did over the weekend. I was thinking more of the colour combo on this (Basic Black, So Saffron, Bashful Blue and Ballet Blue) rather than the composition and cocked up with the sentiment at the top. It should of been at the bottom really but never mind...I'll change it next time. The stamp set is Petal Pizzazz which is in the new mini catalogue. It has some corking blooms in it, great for cutting out. Have you spotted one of my new Martha Stewart punches? Simple scallop....Mmmmmm. Tfl, Jo :)

Crop Day

It was crop day today and a much needed one at that. Thank you to everyone for your kind comments on my first week back at work. I did enjoy being out of the house alot more than usual. The next few weeks will be more settled as I get things in order and gradually move all the works stuff out of my home office into my new work office. I'll then have loads of space to put things away and be tidy in my crafting space, and more productive I hope! :) Anyway, have you got your sunglasses on because this is a bright one...

This is a windswept Jake and I from last week on the Isle of Wight. The one and only photo I have of us together that was actually in focus! DH is not good with cameras. I take the majority of my photos on manual but Paul can only do auto...well I say only.... it's more like pot luck really. His eyesight isn't good and he refuses to wear his glasses (how vain is he??) so he lives in his own little blurry world.... hence out of 15 photos on auto only 1 was in focus.... men eh!? lol

The page looks a bit oversaturated on blogger but in real life it's not so 'in your face'. I'll have a go at trying to calm it down later so you're not all blinded, but hope you like. Whilst at the crop today I received my pre-order of the lovely, lovely, gorgeous and lovely Martha Stewart punches! I have to say they are better than I imagined - the embossed detail with some of them is beautiful. I bought Flourish, Simple, Scallop, Embossing Zigzag and my favourite of all Embossed Scallop...so pretty! Off to play with them now. tfl and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Jo :)

Mr & Mrs

Jake's school teacher is getting married in July and she's invited all her pupils to attend the church - how sweet is that. Jake definately wants to go so I've done the formal thing and sent an acceptance card. Of course it had to be handmade so I used the Mr & Mrs set - my first use of this and I have to say it's looovely. I've used the matching wheel and the detail is quite beautiful. I've probably gone a bit overboard for an acceptance - I just couldn't help myself.
Hope you like...

Stamp with Us Challenge #3

A very quick post today but it will probably turn out longer than expected.... Firstly, Stamp With Us this week have provided a colour challenge...I love colour challenges, I used to do Kristina Werner's and made her top tep on a few occasions too. Anyway I'm not going to dither on - I'll cut to the chase and show you what I've done.... Recipe: A True Friend stamp set Choc chip, close to cocoa & creamy caramel for the colours White EP Vintage brads (love 'em) Choc chip ribbon linen thread Button Latte. Close to Cocoa DSP ... and this was the inspiration. I've also completed a card for 'The More the Merrier Challenge' - well two actually as I did the first one a little bit wrong. My very best bud Karen has organised a few of us to do a monthly challenge. Karen set the first one and it's to use no more than 4 colours, no riboon, one embellishment and one stamp...actually I've just realised....I used two....doh! Oh well...lol The first one wasn't Birthday and I wasn't sure on the colours as they are very autumnal.... ...and the second, well now it's daylight I'm not sure I like the colour combo on that either...Oh dear, sorry Karen. As my school report used to say - 'I must try harder' Recipe: Fresh Cuts Stamp Set, 1st Card:- Choc Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Very Vanilla Colours Half Pearls from the Pretties Kit Earth Elements Marker pens Scallop & Large Oval Punches 2nd Card:- Sincere Salutations Stamp Set Cameo Coral, Basic Black, Green Galore Whisper White Colours Vintage Brads in Black Tea Party DSP Oval & Large Oval Punches Teeny Tiny Circle Punch My first day of work went ok yesterday, spent most of it sitting in a telephone queue to the utilities..... Tut! Off to work now though and it's going to be alot more manic today....I'm clearing out my husbands office a.k.a. THE DUMP! lol Have a good one! Jo :)

Easter 2009

I know Easter was a week ago now but we've been on our Jollies for a few days (Isle of Wight)and I've only just started to get back into the swing on things. Not for long though as I'm back to work on Tues....back to work in the sense of actually leaving the house to work as apose to sitting here in my office/craft room being teased by all my lovely stash. Anyway, it'll do me good and I'm hoping I can be more creative in the evenings rather than juggling proper work with the crafting.
In the limited time I've had to craft this week I've created this scrap page of my little boy from last weekend.
Every years since Jake was 20 months we've had an Easter Egg Hunt at his Nanna's house. Of course there's loads of photos taken by me, and hubs videos the event. We watched the video along with the very first one on the Sunday evening - it seems impossible to think he was so tiny and cute, especially when he's a right little monster now! But I guess I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
The supplies for this page are purely Stampin' Up! If you haven't already guessed I love the Tea Party papers and the matching Playful Petals set and the colours were perfect for the Easter theme. The title was stamped in Schoolbook Serif and I used the 1 1/4" circle punch to make the letters pop from the page. I like to load my pages with lots of embellishments but after I'd cut out each of the flowers, added a few brads and buttons it really didn't need anything else. Hope you like and tfl, Jo :) Recipe: Playful Petals Stamp Set Schoolbook Serif Alpha Set Tea Party DSP Soft Subtles buttons and brads 1 1/4" circle punch Scallop Border Punch Inks:- So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue Soft Subtles Textured Cardstock (Certainly Celery)

Stamp with Us Challenge #2

OK so I've been a bit quiet lately. No excuses other than not having enough hours in a day...sorry. Anyway, hope you all had a good Easter break. We have, with way too much eating and not very much chocolate involved surprisingly. We decided no eggs for hubs and me this year and only bought for the kids. Just as well really as I think I'd burst if I ate anything else right now. We've had two days at the inlaws for tea which means scrumptious homemade cooking and I am STUFFED! lol Right, back to a card. I say 'A' card because that's all I've done lately, and because it's a birthday card I thought I'd enter if for the Stamp With Us challenge #2. This is my first play with the Choo Choo set and matching wheel - it's very cute. I've copied it a little from the card that's in the new Mini but it's not entirely the same. Jake has given me the thumbs up on this one and with plenty of school friends having their 5th Birthdays over the next few months, this set will be very useful. Recipe: Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White Inks: Night of Navy, Old Olive, Real Red, Bashful Blue and So Saffron Stamp Sets: Choo Choo, A Bit of Birthday Cheer Wheel: Right on Track

Always So Happy...

Can you believe this, two posts in one day AND more scrapping?? I know it's not SU! products but it's good to use something different every now and then...
Feeling very virtuous using oldish scrapping stash. Wednesday this week I went to the evening crop, quickly grabbed a bag of Scenic Route stuff that had previously been made up (last year sometime) and created this little lovely. Even the photo was already in the bag! There's no journalling on this page mainly because I don't even know when the photo was taken. It must of been last year but after spending half hour searching through my millions of photos, I gave up. Never mind, it's still good to record the photo which wasn't even photoshop'd - that isn't a boggey on his nose... it's a scratch LOL!
tfl,
Jo :)

Stamp With Us...

Have you seen 'Stamp With Us' ? It's a brand new UK based Stampin'Up! Challenge Blog and there's some really exciting stuff going on over there. I won't give you the details here but it's quite amazing what Monica and Natalie have lined up for everyone. Have a look and see what you think. I've been out of the challenges for awhile, not that I did many, but I'm slowly getting myself a little more organised. As well as sorting my scrapbooking stash (I'm nearly there) I've found some cheap desktop storage in Wilkinsons which I'm chuffed about. I bought a 3 shelf faux leather cd storage unit for £10, quite small but it's perfect for all my ink pads. I also got some suede 2 draw boxes, £3 each, again quite small but they stack ontop of each other and it's made life so much easier having things put away rather than scattered over my desk. I need two more but they'd sold out in my local one - I've sent my eldest off in search of them at his local shop...wonder what he'll come back with?!?! lol Anway back to the challenges....I've actually made a card! yaaay! Stamp with Us have their first challenge up which is a sketch. It took me ages to decide which set to use and what colours, but this is what I came up with.... ...and the sketch was this.....Recipe:

c/s: Ballet Blue, real Red, So Saffron & W/W

Ink: Basic Grey

Punch: Large Star, Scallop Border with 1/16" handheld punch

Patterned Paper: Bashful Blue

Stamps: In the Stars and Starring You.

Accessories: Linen Thread and Silver Brads.

JO :)
