Say it with Flowers

My MIL's best friend has a special birthday to celebrate tomorrow. She's a lovely lady and I wanted to make something beautiful for such a wonderful person. Unfortunately my mojo seems to have hopped on a bus somewhere and all I could come up with was this very simple card using 'A Rose is a Rose'. Thank goodness for the perfect colour co-ordination of Stampin' Up right? If it weren't for that I probably would of bought a card....shame on me for thinking such a thing! lol

SWU 'Colour' Challenge

I'm very, very late with the Stamp With Us Challenge this week. Better late than never though. The inspiration was this lovely photo...

And the card I made was this...I can't seem to get any decent photos lately - this doesn't look anywhere near as good as it does in real life. The colours I used are Sahara Sand, Real Red, Bashful Blue, Ballet Blue and YoYo Yellow and the stamp set was my old faithful Simply Said.

I may have to invest in one of those little tents for my photos. Can anyone recommend?

Oh and thank you all for the suggestions for trying to find a Scooby Doo cake. I couldn't find one anywhere so Jake settled for Ben Ten. The party was a great success - even I enjoyed myself! As well as Jake's b'day on Monday it was my hubs b'day on Wednesday so it's been a busy week of celebrations.

There's been no crafting for me this week but I have lots of thank you notes and a 70th Birthday card to make over the weekend so hopefully I'll have something to show you next week.

Have a great weekend!

Jo :)

Something Special

Another Penny Black for you today. Whilst at Newbury I saw this very cute and adorable concertina card and thought I'd have a go at one myself. This is my effort....There are 2 more sides to this card (front & back) to make it extra special. These are the inside pages...

.... and this is the front... I haven't taken a picture of the back but basically it's the same as above with a blank panel to write a birthday message on. I've 3D'd the hedgehogs again and it was quite bulky when I finished. There was no way it would if fit into an envelope so I made a matching box with a silver elastic belly band with embelishment to go round the middle. It was fairly time consuming to make but it does look lovely. The colours are Pink Passion and Gable Green which go really well with these Doodlebug papers I picked up at the Newbury Show.

Busy day for me today - Jake finishes school at lunchtime and then it's all go for the party preparations on Sunday. We have a birthday cake to find so if anyone knows where I could get an 'off the shelf' Scooby Doo cake from (UK) I'd be very grateful!

Tfl & see ya soon!

Something different

Last weekend I visited the Newbury Stamp Show with Julie & Helen. Had a fantastic time ooo'ing and aaaah'ing over lots of wonderful samples on each stand, and there were many. One of our first stops was a shop selling Penny Black stamps. O-M-Gosh, they were fabulous! We were so amazed I reckon we stayed there for well over half an hour - it was wonderful! Anyway it was where the bulk of my spending money went that day..lol One of the sets I bought was called 'Wonderful'. Cute little hedgehogs, how could I not resist. I've made a few things with them over the last two weeks but I haven't had the time to photograph - until today. Not that the light is very good in our conservatory late afternoon, but I did at least get this one which wasn't too bad. The rest have been ditched along with some other bits plus the DT Challenge for Stamp With Us for this coming week, so I'll have to have another go tomorrow morning before work. Anyway, the card....

...I love this one even if it does look like a blatant case off Bev Rochester..lol We did stop and see Bev whilst at the show and she showed us how to make the flowers with the charms. Hence why this card may look so familiar to you. :) My dangly charm is a bit long so I know for next time to do it a fair bit shorter but hey ho...not the end of the world eh.

By the way the hedgehogs have been cut out and 3D'd onto this card. Not sure it shows up that well but if I can fiddle with another pic I have, and it's not too dark I'll edit this post to show you. Before I go, I also wanted to thank you all for the get well wishes when Jake was poorly. He was up and down with a temperature for 3 days in the end and he's only now getting back to his normal self. It was nothing serious though, just a nasty bug but it's always such a worry when they go downhill so quick. It's his 5th birthday next Monday, we're having his friends round for a Scooby Doo party on Sunday including a bouncy castle. It's going to be bedlum so wish me luck! Tfl and see ya soon! Jo :)

Time is always against me.

Hello everyone, well that's if anyone still visits my blog...lol It's been awhile hasn't it? This is a flying visit just to say I haven't dropped off the face of this earth. I'm still here but finding other things have to take priority at the mo so I do apologise for not updating as much as I would like and thank you all so much for stopping by and leaving such wonderful comments. It does make me all warm and fuzzy inside to read them and I really do appreciate it. Anyway, I haven't done much of late so I'm showing you a card I made awhile back from my lovely friend Louise. Lou has moved so I made a new home card for her. I used the Neighbourhood wheel and coloured it - how cute eh? Sorry this is so brief, Jake is poorly with a temperature and I must get back to my nurses hat. I will try my best to post again soon. Tfl and see ya soon, Jo :)
